I have been a wedding photographer at Sandy Cove Hotel in Devon four times, and every single wedding has felt completely unique in its own way. Perched along the North Devon coastline, Sandy Cove is one of those venues that instantly makes an impression – the dramatic sea views, the peaceful atmosphere, and the way the coast seems to completely slow time down for a little while.
As a Devon wedding photographer, it’s such a beautiful place to work. Sandy Cove Hotel is one of the most stunning coastal wedding venues in North Devon, with a relaxed, intimate feel while still feeling incredibly special. Everything flows so naturally throughout the day, from getting ready in the hotel overlooking the sea to guests gathering outside after the ceremony with drinks, canapés, and panoramic coastal views stretching behind them.
One of my favourite things about weddings at Sandy Cove Hotel in Devon is how, whether the weather brings sunshine, sea mist, or dramatic winds rolling in from the coast, it always adds something magical to the photographs. This North Devon wedding venue truly shines in every kind of light and season, making it perfect for couples who want natural, storytelling wedding photography.
As a regular Sandy Cove wedding photographer, I’ve got to know all the most beautiful locations around the venue for portraits, from the best coastal viewpoints to the places where the light just hits perfectly, creating soft, natural backdrops throughout the day.
One wedding at Sandy Cove that will stay with me forever was Skye and Cameron’s.
Skye was one of the bravest and most beautiful souls I’ve ever had the privilege of meeting. She was living with Osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer, and used her social media to help raise awareness throughout her journey. Her final wish was to marry her partner, Cameron, surrounded by the people they loved most.
Their wedding day was emotional, heartfelt, and full of so much love all at once. Every moment felt incredibly meaningful – from the quiet glances between them to the smiles and tender moments shared throughout the day. Skye and Cameron kept things lighthearted too, with plenty of laughter woven through the day, balancing the emotion with an easy, joyful energy from start to finish.
Just five weeks after their wedding, Skye sadly passed away.
It’s a wedding I will carry with me forever, and a reminder of just how powerful and important these memories truly are.

To help make their day possible, myself and a group of suppliers came together to donate our services, ensuring Skye and Cameron could have the wedding they had dreamed of, surrounded by their loved ones.
